Mary Ann DeMalleo

Mary Ann DeMalleo, age 96, of Joplin, formally of Brooklyn, New York passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at her home.

Mary Ann, daughter of the late Stephen and Stefana “Patti” Codraro, was born on January 12, 1928, in Brooklyn, NY. She was united in marriage to Joseph DeMalleo on October 17, 1953. He preceded her in death in 1960.

Mary Ann’s early years were a testament to her resilient and giving nature.







From a young age, Mary Ann left school to enter the workforce, contributing to her family's well-being, during a time when every helping hand made a significant difference. Mary's career began in a toy factory, later she transitioned into the retail industry working at Kresge's Department Store and Woolworth Department Store, for over 25 years. In 2017, Mary made the heartfelt decision to relocate to the Joplin area to be closer to her son and his family. Mary was a devout Catholic and a life-long member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn, New York, where she found great solace and joy in her faith.

Survivors include one son, Stephen DeMalleo, and his wife, Dawn, of Joplin; three grandchildren, Angelo DeMalleo, Stephen DeMalleo Jr., and Dionna Diaz; 2 step-grandchildren, Kooper Duckworth and Konnor Houston; two nephews, Joseph Fishchetti, and his wife, Michelle and Steven Codraro and his wife, Jeannie; nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. 








In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, and one son, Angelo DeMalleo, in 1984.

Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin with inurnment to be held at Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin at a later date. The reciting of the Rosary and sharing of the eulogy will be held on Monday, February 12th beginning at 9:30 AM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
