(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Patricia Ann Mize, née Baugh, of Joplin, Missouri passed away in the comfort of her home on January 29, 2024, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
Born on February 3, 1936, to Arthur Daniel Baugh and Ethel Irene Baugh (Wagner), Patricia was the eldest of ten children and was treasured by her siblings as both a sister and a caretaker—a role she lovingly played for all lucky enough to call her family.
On November 30, 1952, Patricia married the love of her life, Eldon Barthol Mize. With Eldon, Patricia created a life focused on family and friends. Mother to six children and grandmother to ten grandchildren, she was known for her dry wit, warm nature, classic beauty, songbird voice, and selflessness.
In addition to raising her family, Patricia served as host on the talk show, Around the Town, at KFH radio in Wichita, Kansas where her spark for life and vivacious personality were showcased. She later served as an income tax preparer with H&R Block. She loved traveling and exploring other cultures, reading mystery novels, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. Throughout her life, family was of paramount importance, and she made it a point to attend every sporting event, graduation, and celebration to show her love and support.
She was beloved and truly cherished by all who knew her. To be in her presence was to feel seen, appreciated, and loved. She taught by example and her lessons on kindness, patience, humor, grace, and compassion are her legacy. She will be missed and remembered forever.
