(From Simpson Funeral Home)With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jimmie Thomas, a loving and dedicated husband, a loyal friend, and a man of thoughtfulness and respect. Born on June 24, 1945, in Miami, Oklahoma, Jimmie's journey of life concluded on July 8, 2024, while residing in Webb City, Missouri.
Jimmie was a man of character and principles, who lived his life with purpose and dedication. He was a banker with Southwest Missouri Bank, Joplin, Missouri, from where he retired in 2010 after a successful and fulfilling career. He was known for being an entrepreneur after he started two businesses, LeMasters Realty and Four Seasons Realty. Known for his philosophical outlook,
Jimmie had an unwavering loyalty to his Family and Friends. But his life wasn't all work, as his hobbies of woodworking, antiquing, and furniture rehab as well as being a car enthusiast. His ability to bring new life to old pieces was a testament to his belief in the value of resilience and restoration. As Jimmie always said, "Life is like a merry-go-round, find comfort in the ride."
Jimmie was also a dedicated community servant, serving as President of Kiwanis and the Jaycees. His commitment to service was a reflection of his loving and thoughtful nature. He leaves behind his wife, Martha Thomas, who was his steadfast companion in life since their marriage on March 29, 2002; sister Tonya Thorpe; son Joseph "Jody" (Monique) Thomas, Nathan (Bridget) Thomas; grandkids Allison (Michael) LeDuc, Zachary Thomas, Jonathan Thomas, Sam Thomas and Mekhi Garrard. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin (Lefty) and Naomi Thomas; brothers Larry Thomas and Danny Thomas.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6-7:00 pm at Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City. A graveside service will follow on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 9:00 am at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin.
