Denice Woods

Denice Jean Woods, age 56, Carthage, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025 at her home after a sudden illness.

Denice was born on September 24, 1968 in Joplin, daughter of the late Edward A. Pippin, Sr., and Twyla Jean (Haslip) Hunley of Joplin. She grew up in Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School before attending Missouri Southern State University.






 

She was a stay-at-home mom who loved taking care of her family. She was known for her cooking, and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan, and loved to fish anywhere she could drop a line. She will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband, Randy Woods; mother, Twyla Hunley of Joplin, dad of 35 years, Gary Hunley of Joplin; brothers, Edward “Bud” Pippin, Jr. of Joplin, and Cory Rapp also of Joplin; sister, Sheila Harper (Bill) of Webb City, Rachel Hunley of Baxter Springs, KS, Ramona Hansen of Duenweg, MO; son, Dakota Smith and wife Kia of Joplin, daughters, Ashley Smith and Maxine Flowers both of Joplin; grandchildren, Skyler McKinley, Carson Armer, Skylar Armer, Lakelyn Drummond, Amiri Drummond, and La’zalia Drummond.








Funeral service will be Friday, March 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jim Law officiating. Burial will follow in Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Randy Woods, Carson Armer, Dakota Smith, Bud Pippin, Cory Rapp, and William Harper serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
