Mary Lou (Renfro) Messner, a long-time resident of Joplin, Mo. passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo. after a long illness.
Mary was born on March 30, 1949 in Granby, Mo., she graduated from Granby High School in 1967. She married Thomas Boyd Messner on November 9, 1979. Mary worked as a senior buyer for F.A.G. Bearings for over 30 years until retiring in 2011.
Mary was an amazing mother, grandmother and dedicated wife. She loved to cook, watch her kids and grandkids in all of their activities. She served on the board for Joplin Little League and was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. Mary was a devoted Christian and attended Wildwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter; Nicole Shelley and husband Chase, their two children, Breklyn and Austin Shelley, her son; Dustin Messner and wife Erica, their son, Raylen Messner, all of Joplin, sister; Tonia Moffett of Granby, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, James and Billy Renfro, sister, Patty Renfro and her husband, Thomas B. Messner.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation immediately following the service.
