Carley Huddleston Smith, age 82, Joplin, passed away at 4:07 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015 at Freeman Health System.
Carley was born May 8, 1933 in Oregon to the late Vivan A. Teeters and Clara Mae Huddleston Teeters and had lived in Milan, Illinois for 50 years before moving to Joplin in 2013.
She was a 3rd and 4th grade school teacher for 35 years at Hampton Elementary. Following her retirement, she volunteered as a hospice chaplain and was active with the Joplin Association of the Blind.
Carley is survived by a son, Lee W. Smith and his wife, Theresa, Joplin; a daughter, Judy C. Pauley and her husband, James, Coal Valley, Illinois; one brother, Phillip Teeter, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Carley was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
A visitation is planned for Tuesday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, on Monday, August 31.
A memorial service will be held at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island, Illinois in the near future.
Local arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
