John Anthony Barchak Sr., age 95, of Joplin, Mo passed away Saturday August 15, 2015 at his home.
He was born on June 21, 1920 in Colby, Ks the son of Anthony and Mary “Schova” Barchak. John was a veteran serving his country in the United States Air Force, from 1941 to 1946 as a mechanic working on B25 airplanes. He married Naomi Luney on June 9, 1947 in Monett, Mo. John and Naomi Moved to Kansas City, Mo where John worked as a Mechanic for UPS until his retirement in 1990, moving back to Joplin after his retirement. John loved to hunt, fish and do yard work.
John was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Jeanne Ann Barchak. Survivors include his wife Naomi of the home, three sons: John Barchak Jr. and wife Cheryl of Joplin, Mo, Robert Barchak and wife Shirley of Joplin, Mo and Richard Barchak Sr. of Urich,, MO; a daughter Diana Harrell and husband Stephen of Lee’s Summit, Mo, a brother Tony Barchak and wife Helene of Monett, Mo, eight grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday at the St. Peters the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. J. Friedel officiating. Burial will follow in the St Agnes Cemetery near Sarcoxie, MO. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm Tuesday with visitation to follow until 7:30 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
