(From Daniel Funeral Home)
Frances Lucille “Dot” Doyle, age 91, of Lamar, passed away Saturday evening, August 1, 2015 at Truman Healthcare Center.
Dot was born September 25, 1923 at Springfield, Illinois, the youngest child of Joe and Mildred (Palaska) Buckus. After graduating from high school in Springfield, Dot worked in a factory to support the war effort. On April 20, 1944, she married her special soldier, Kenneth Doyle, while he was on a short leave from the army. While waiting for Kenneth to complete his overseas tour of duty, Dot stayed with her sister in California, working in the fruit orchards and avocado groves. When Kenneth returned, they made their home in Missouri where Dot was a homemaker and an industrious volunteer for the Good Samaritan Shop in Lamar for more than 40 years. Dot had a “soft spot” for animals, enjoyed watching all the birds frequenting the many feeders in her yard, and relished the companionship of her dog, Zippy. She was a faithful member of Lamar Church of Christ. Dot was blessed to be “adopted” by the compassionate and loving caregivers at Truman Healthcare Center who deeply enriched the last two years of her life.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth; their infant daughter, Barbara; a brother, Steve Buckus; and sisters, Victoria, Josephine, Helen, and Eleanor.
Survivors include her five nieces and their families, Nancy Cooley, Laurie Goldwasser, JoEllyn Pointer, Liz Ross, and Denise Workman; her many Doyle nephews and nieces, including Carl Doyle of Lamar and Beverly Rose of Carthage.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 4th at Daniel Funeral Home with John Johnson officiating. A private committal service and burial will be in Howell Cemetery south of Milford, Missouri.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Lamar Church of Christ or Good Samaritan Shop in care of the funeral home.
