Margaret Gwynyth Tune Lucas, age 87, Joplin, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2015 at Spring River Christian Village.
Margaret was born March 28, 1928 in Coalville, Leicester, England to the late William Burke and Jemima Evans Burke.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Edward Tune; five sisters and eight brothers.
Music was a large part of her life. Margaret was a classically trained pianist as well as a gifted opera singer and loved to dance. She won a national competition for her singing in England before coming to America.
As much as Margaret loved music, her true vocation was nursing. She spent her more than 50 year career in service to others as a Registered Nurse in Vinita, OK, Joplin and Springfield, MO areas.
Margaret enjoyed traveling and especially traveling to areas where she could observe wildlife and nature. She provided habitat and shelter for the many varieties of birds who made her home their home.
Above all else, Margaret loved her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Sampson and her husband, Ron, Webb City; one son, Robert Burke Tune, California; four grandchildren, Tracy Tune, Eric Tune, Heather Sampson, Dustin Sampson, their families and four great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. The graveside will follow on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Vinita, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.
