Joan M. Hartley, 77, of Carthage, passed away Thursday evening, August 6, 2015 at home following a long illness. Joan Moss was born December 15, 1937 in Okanogan, Washington. She was predeceased by her parents, Lester (Curly) Moss and Helen Elgin Moss. Growing up, Joan was involved with Job’s Daughters and Eastern Star. Joan graduated from Coronado High School in 1955. She was married to Jack Kennedy of Baker, Florida from 1956 to 1973. She married James Hartley of Carthage, Missouri on April 18, 1975, he survives.
Joan is also survived by daughters Jennifer Shobe of Carthage; Janine Bryan of San Diego, CA; Joelle and Steve Church of Baker, FL; grandchildren Eroica Jardno and Jeff Zacharko of St. Louis, MI; Angela Crosby of Midland, MI; Cassondra and Jared Ford of Shelton, WA; Christina Bryan and William Bryan of San Diego, CA; Amina Abedyasin and Jafar Abedyasin, both currently deployed with US Army; Malik and Nadia Abedyasin of Amman, Jordan; Ariel and Kyle Metz of Carthage; Amber Hartley of Carthage; great-grandchildren Gavin and Kylee Jardno of Midland, MI; Lilly and Luke Ford of Shelton, WA; Kevin Jack Abedyasin of Alabama.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, MO. Joan’s family wishes to thank Hospice Compassus for all of their help, care, and compassion during Joan’s illness. Family asks that donations be made to Hospice Compassus in lieu of flowers.
