(From Clark Funeral Home)Amy Ellen Lawson was born December 18, 1962 in Denton, Texas, one of two children to James L. and Caroleen Ann (Smith) Speck. She entered into rest on July 15, 2021 in Joplin, following a two week illness at the age of 58.
Amy moved to Neosho in 1970 and was a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1981. She had worked as an insurance processor for Wal-Mart; as a teacher's aide at Benton School and was a devoted homemaker.
Amy enjoyed quilting, crocheting and she loved being a 'Grandma' and 'Aunt'. She enjoyed studying the Bible and ministering to others, she always completed a phone call or a visit with 'I love you and Jesus loves you'. She attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church. Ami and Steve Lawson were married on October 20, 1990 at Big Spring Park in Neosho and he survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Steven James (Tammie) Lawson of Seneca, Missouri; a daughter, Nancy Ann Mahurin of Joplin, Missouri; two grandchildren, Callum Ray Lawson and Seth Mahurin; one brother, Steve (Nancy) Speck of Tennessee; her mother-in-law, Lois Lawson of Neosho; sister-in-law, Debbie Patrick of Neosho and twenty nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Ami is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, George Lawson.
