Wayne was born October 22, 1931 in Stotts City, Missouri, son of the late Claude and Lulu Maxwell. He grew up in Stotts City, and attended Mount Vernon Schools.
He was a mechanic by trade, and held several jobs over the years, but his final job was being a school bus mechanic for Carthage RIX School District where he retired in 1996. He loved working for the school and helping the children anyway he could.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Maxwell; his son, Ronald Maxwell, daughter, Myrna Knight; great-grandson, Ricky Tankersley, and his siblings, John and Alice.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Chris Knight and wife Michele, April Choate and husband David all of Carthage, Jonathan Maxwell and wife Angie of Carl Junction, and Jennifer Maxwell of Bentonville, Arkansas; 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
