Bonnie Brandt

(From Derfelt Funeral Home)

Bonnie Louise (Darlington) Brandt, age 75 of Oswego, passed away at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Labette Health of Parsons following complications from Covid.

Bonnie was born in Fort Scott, KS on May 4, 1946 to the union of Paul F. Darlington and Thelma L. (Wilson) Darlington. She spent most of her childhood in the Pittsburg, KS area and attended Pittsburg Schools.

Bonnie and David L. Brandt were married on December 15, 1962. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2014 after almost 52 years of marriage.

She worked for the Oswego School District in food service until she retired after dedicating 42 years. During this time, Bonnie created many lifelong friendships that she held close to her heart.

Bonnie was a caring and devoted mom, grandma, and friend. If you knew Bonnie, you loved her. Her infectious smile and laugh could brighten any room. Bonnie enjoyed going to all of her grandchildrens’ school and sporting events. She loved supporting and being with her family during all of their life journeys. Sundays were always reserved for family lunch that was usually followed with a game of Yahtzee, a Hallmark movie, or a Chief’s game. Grandma’s house was the best place to play games and make memories. Bonnie also loved the occasional casino trip and traveling to new places any time she could.
There are so many wonderful traits Bonnie was known for, but the greatest one was her heart. She accepted everyone into her family with open arms and loved them so deeply. You couldn’t leave her house without a hug or hang up the phone without an “I love you.” Bonnie lived a life she loved with a family who will forever be thankful for her.

Survivors include one son, Jeff Brandt of Lawson, MO; two daughters, Leah Miller (Jeff) of Joplin, MO, and Missy Brandt of Oswego; two brothers, Dean Darlington and Pete Darlington; one sister, Pauline Badeaux; 8 grandchildren, Randi, Zack (Mattie), Hilary, Jake, Sydney, Brianna (Trey), Ally, and Brooke; 8 great-grandchildren, Trevor, Brandon, McKenna, Alec, Jase, Thomas, Madison, and Brody.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Thelma Darlington.

Love you. Miss you. Goodbye
