Duane Swatosh

Duane Franklin Swatosh, age 71, of Jasper, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at his home in Jasper.

Duane, son of the late Dale Swatosh and Opal (McConnell) Swatosh, was born on April 17, 1950 in Grinnell, IA. He attended school in Iowa and Oklahoma where he attained certification to become a certified Jeweler. 









 
Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. Later he was the owner and operator of One Hour Jeweler in Joplin. 

 After his retirement, Duane enjoyed volunteer work helping other veterans. He was an avid rider with the Patriot Guard Riders and a member of the Jasper VFW Post 6415, and the United Methodist Church in Jasper. He loved his family dearly and lived by his life motto “no worries.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his three children, Wendy Swatosh, and her significant other, Eric Patterson, of Liberty, Crystal Masters, and her significant other, William Brand, of Jasper, and Matthew Swatosh, and his wife, Nancy, of Lamar; one brother, Claire Swatosh; two sisters, Joyce Swatosh, and Cindi Powell; six grandchildren, Tabitha Williams, Nicholas Montes, Sydney Emmett, Tabitha Swatosh, Madalyn Swatosh, and Blake Swatosh; three great grandchildren, Colton Williams, Wyatt Williams, and Brianna Montes; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William “Bill” Swatosh; and two sisters, Emily Kephart, and Judith Swatosh.

Private family services will be held at a later date. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Christmas for Kids in Memory of Duane Swatosh and can be sent to the Jasper Police Dept at the Jasper City Hall, 121 East Grand St., Jasper, MO 64755.

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
