Betty Lamb

(From Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home)

Betty Lamb traded her earthly home for her Heavenly home on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

Betty was born in Webb City, Missouri at 1517 Crow Street; 97 years later she passed away only four blocks from where she was born.

In the meantime, she enjoyed living her life – she married, lived in three different states, raised a family, traveled across the world, and touched the hearts of practically everyone she met.

Betty was born on April 15, 1924 to Lewis and Opal Mulkins. Betty attended school in Webb City, graduating from WCHS in 1942. After high school, Betty worked some and played some; and on August 14, 1946 married a boy from Alba, Missouri even though her Mother warned her, “Don’t date that Don Lamb – he’s a smart aleck”.

Although Betty spent most of her life in Webb City, a wonderful season of living in Ouray, Colorado changed her life – and her family’s lives – forever. It still holds a special place in her family’s hearts today.

Family and church were important factors in her life. Her greatest joys in life were being home and raising her two boys, Jim and Mark, then watching her grandsons, Dustin, Jared and Derek, grow up. Betty also loved learning, reading, writing, and studying the Bible. For many years, she taught a popular Young Marrieds class at Frisco Church. She also loved sending cards to friends with poems she had written for their special occasion.

The love of music was a constant in Betty’s life. At the age of 12, she began accompanying congregational singing at the West Side Methodist Church. From that start, God blessed and increased her talent. Over the course of her life, she played for countless church services, funerals, weddings, church soloists, vacation bible schools, children’s church, and nursing home visits.

Betty lost her husband, Don, in 1983. During years following, she spent time volunteering with Adult Literacy and American Rehabilitation Ministries. She also worked for many years at PCG Printing.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Opal Mulkin;, two brothers, Lewis, Jr. and Paul; and her husband, Don. She is survived by her two sons, Jim Lamb and wife, Janice, of Webb City, and Mark Lamb of Webb City; her three beloved grandsons, Dustin Lamb and wife, Kim, of Carl Junction, Jared Lamb and wife, Natasha, of St. Petersburg, Russia, and Derek Lamb of Webb City; and her three great-grandchildren, Connor and Sydney Lamb, of Carl Junction, and Carina Lamb of St. Petersburg. Betty is also survived by many, many others whose lives she touched.

A Life Celebration will be held Friday, July 30, at 10:30 a.m. at The Frisco Church in Webb City. A visitation reception will be held afterwards. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Frisco Church. The family would love to have you share your memories of Betty. Please mail to Mark Lamb, 1136 Oak Way, Webb City, MO 64870, or email to mlamb@whitlockco.com.
