Melva DeLaMatter

Melva Arlene Grife DeLaMatter was born on August 24, 1936 in Anderson, Missouri, one of seven children to Alvie Emil and Alice (Allie) Emma Brotherton Grife. She entered into rest on July 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home, following an extended illness at the age of 84. 

She was a longtime area resident and after the death of her husband, Ronald, she lived in several different states with her daughter and son-in-law before settling in Gentry, Arkansas. 

Melva loved her family, she never met a stranger and she loved everyone unconditionally. She enjoyed flowers and watching birds and was a woman of faith. She was a member of Splitlog Baptist Church. 

Melva married Ronald DeLaMatter on May 29, 1955 at Splitlog Baptist Church and he preceded her in death in 1988. She is survived by three children, Arlene (Mike) Bowers of Maysville, Arkansas, Cecil Harvey (Suzanne) DeLaMatter of Colcord, Oklahoma and Linda (Rob) Adler of Gentry, Arkansas; one brother, Floyd Stanley Grife; one sister, Jeanie (Butch) Nolan of Derby, Kansas; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild. 

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by four sons, Ronnie, Carl, Truman 'Bud', and Jimmy; her parents; three brothers, Jim, Johnny and Vernie Grife and a sister, Faye Tuomala.
