(From Parker Mortuary)Robert Wayne Hackney, age 56, Carl Junction, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at his home with family at his side.
Bob was born December 16, 1964 in Joplin, son of the late H. Wayne Hackney and Patricia N. (Courtright) Hackney.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Carl Junction where he was a gifted athlete for Carl Junction High School, graduating in 1983. He was All-State in Football and Track and Field.
He attended Missouri Southern State University on a football scholarship. He was the Carl Junction High School record holder in the shotput until his son Seth broke that record 24 years later. Bob was voted into the Carl Junction High School Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. He also enjoyed his time coaching Pee-Wee football.

He worked at Dyno-Nobel on a swing shift when the boys were small, until he almost missed Nate’s first Tball game. The next day he applied and was accepted into the IBEW apprenticeship program working days and going to school. After graduating the five-year program he worked several years for Fagan Electric. He finally got the opportunity to go back to Dyno as a Plant Maintenance Electrician where he worked until his passing, and he never missed or was late to another ballgame again.
He attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Carl Junction. He was also a talented singer, and loved sharing his gift at weddings and church services. He was happiest in his time spent loving and serving his wife, sons, family, friends and young athletes. Bob never hesitated to lend a helping hand.
He married his high school sweetheart Amy Sprouse on March 7, 1985 in Carl Junction, she survives; also surviving are his two sons, Nate Hackney and wife Hannah of Carl Junction, and Seth Hackney and wife Brekken of Seneca, Missouri; grandchildren, Jack Hackney, Jude Hackney, Leonardo Hackney, Romeo Hackney, Parker Hackney, and Brady Rose Hackney; sister, Janet Hackney of Carl Junction; mother-in-law, Sharon Sprouse and Wayne’s longtime wife Dixie Wells, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a long list of close friends, whom he loved dearly.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Pastor John St. Clair officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
