Cindy Safley

(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)

Cindy Safley was an amazing mom, wife, grandma, sister, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. She passed away at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, MO on August 8, 2023 at the age of 66 after a short illness. Cindy was born to Wayne and Lois Hay on October 20, 1956.

She is survived by her husband Jim, sister Diane Russell (Kevin), brother Ken Hay, son Eric Turner (Brandi), daughter Alycia Carr (Todd), and grandchildren Jaedin, Talin and Remingtin Turner and Conner and McKenzie Hamel.

Cindy lived every day to the fullest and was full of joy. She loved being with family and friends, and she also loved cheering on the Arkansas Razorbacks. If you ever watched an Arkansas game with her, you know she was prone to yell at the TV when she thought the team needed it. Cindy possessed a stubborn streak that she also passed down to her two children. We are going to miss her terribly, but we are at peace knowing she is pain free in heaven and happily reunited with her mom and dad.

In May 2022, Cindy married Jim Safley on a beach in Alabama. Even though their time together was short, Jim says it was the best three years of his life. As happy as Jim was, Cindy’s family could also tell Cindy was just as happy. Together they enjoyed spending time at their lake house, where among other things they watched the hummingbirds and enjoyed countless sunsets on the lake. Cindy would often share pictures of the lake sunsets on social media.

Cindy was a loving mother. She would proudly tell anyone who would listen about all of Eric’s professional accomplishments. Alycia and Cindy had a routine of talking as Alycia drove home from work most days. Those calls would often last much longer than the drive home.

Cindy was especially proud of her grandkids. To Jaedin, Talin, and Remi she was “Grandma Cindy”. To Conner and McKenzie she was “Nana”. She would ask both Eric and Alycia about them all the time. She would drive long distances to watch her grandkids concerts, sporting events, or other performances. Cindy sponsored Talin’s race team and was also a tournament sponsor for Conner’s club soccer team.

It was Cindy’s wish to not have a funeral, but a celebration of life is being planned for a later
date.
