(From Ulmer Funeral Home)Ileene Sherrill, 95, of Carthage, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Ileene was born January 31, 1928, to Edward Sherrill and Hazel Morris in Carthage, Missouri, where she spent her entire life.
Ileene had a very generous spirit, dedicated her life to helping others and serving her church and community. Ileene volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army for 18 years and volunteered for their other charity events totaling in 22 years of volunteer service.
In her free time, she loved getting into a good word puzzle while she snacked on her peanut M&M’s.
Ileene is survived numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own.

Ileene is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Hazel Sherrill; three brothers; Morris Sherrill, Ed Sherrill, and Royce Sherrill; three sisters, Helon Long and Ruth Sherrill, and Rouan Southard.
A funeral service will be held for Ileene at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage, Missouri. The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service, on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Ulmer Funeral Home. The burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made to the Salvation Army in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
