(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Jo Rene Noah of Joplin, Missouri, age 79, passed away January 5, 2024 at Communities of Wildwood Ranch surrounded by members of her family. She was born in Dallas, Texas March 18, 1944. She is the daughter of Reverend Thomas and Bessie Weaver.
Jo graduated in 1965 from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Arts and minor in History. She taught at the high school level in Texas before making her way to Joplin, Missouri where she would start her career. She taught middle school English in Riverton, Kansas from 1972 until retirement in 2006. During that time she completed studies and is a National Board Certified Teacher.
Jo enjoyed spending her summers hiking with her family in Estes Park, Colorado. She loved spending mornings at the tennis court and afternoons at Rosedale Community Pool. And, she always had a glass of unsweetened tea in hand. Her freezer was full of blackberries she picked from bushes behind her house.
She married her college sweetheart, Dale Gordon Noah. They were married for 57 years, he preceded her in death in April 2023. Jo was also preceded in death by her parents, her oldest sister Anna Carol Meier of Carrollton, Texas and her youngest sister, Alice May Steeley of Grapevine, Texas. Survivors include: Gordon Noah (son) and wife Megan of Ridgewood, New Jersey.
Tricia Whitehead (daughter) and husband Travis of Joplin, Missouri. Grandchildren: Zachary Trigg, Dayton Whitehead, Logan Martin, Tessa Noah, Waverly Noah and 4 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Three Rivers Hospice for its thoughtful service and the Communities of Wildwood Ranch for their continued support. The family will hold a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 at Mason Woodard Mortuary. A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Saint Jo, Texas.
