(From Ozark Memorial Park Crematory)Don Eugene Hoffmeier, age 89 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2025 peacefully at his home with family by his side after a long battle of cancer and COPD.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery south of Springfield with Reverend Daryl Stanford officiating.
Don Eugene Hoffmeier was born on July 12, 1935 in Iola, Kansas. Don was the son of Glen and Ada Hoffmeier and one of three children. He attended Iola High School and upon graduating attended Iola Community College. Don served our country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served as an E10 Hull Technician (welder) aboard the USS Yorktown.
Don and Lucille Thomas were united in marriage on June 25, 1960. They lived in Humboldt, Kansas where Don worked at Wonder Bread. They then moved to Frontenac, Kansas where he went to work for Finnacy Food Distributors. They finally settled down in Springfield, Missouri where he worked for Fadlers
Don is preceded in death by his wife Lucille and his mother and father, Glen and Ada and brother in law Howard Morrow.
Don is survived by his second wife Sharon (Stotler) Hoffmeier, sons; Mike Hoffmeier of Joplin, MO, Steve Hoffmeier and wife Suzanne of Greenville, IL, and Doug Hoffmeier and wife DaNiece of Mustang, OK. Don was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren; Stephanie (Hoffmeier) Tebbe, Dustin Hoffmeier, Jacqueline (Hoffmeier) Yocum, Ashley Hoffmeier, and Brittney (Hoffmeier) Collier. Great Grandfather to Brynlee, Bryce, Parker, Kynslee, Camden, Collin, Layla, and Hudson. Also surviving are two siblings, Gary Hoffmeier and wife Susan, and Glenna Morrow and niece, Kimberly (Doc) Morrow.

My Uncle Don was one of the kindest individuals I have ever known. He was someone you wanted to be around. He always had something good to say, very positive person and soft spoken. So blessed that he was part of our lives, he will be missed.
