(From Clark Funeral Home)It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gerhard Reusswig, a devoted husband, father, and accomplished engineer. Gerhard passed away on March 8, 2025, at the age of 86.
Born on July 20, 1938, in Frankfurt, Germany, to Heinz and Marie (Kuhne) Reusswig, Gerhard spent his early years in Germany and lived there until the end of the war. He then moved to Canada before eventually settling in Connecticut, where he would raise his family.
Gerhard married his beloved wife, Nancy "Linn" Reusswig, on July 6, 1963. Together, they raised two daughters: Susan and Anne-Lise. The couple was also blessed with one grandson, Dylan Repass. Gerhard and Linn were blessed with sixty-one years of adventure.
A gifted and dedicated scholar, Gerhard earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo and went on to achieve his PhD in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY. His professional career was both innovative and distinguished. Gerhard worked on the Gemini space program as a rocket scientist before designing and overseeing operations for offshore oil rigs at Mobil Oil. His work took him around the world, and he was fortunate to travel with his family whenever possible, sharing his experiences with them.
In addition to his career, Gerhard had a great love for sailing. His favorite pastime was sailing on his scow, a hobby he enjoyed so much that he wore his boat out over the years.
Gerhard's legacy of intelligence, dedication, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Linn; daughters Susan Elizabeth (Robert Repass) Reusswig of Castro Valley, CA, and Anne-Lise (Dean Wright) Reusswig of San Rafael, California, and one grandson Dylan Repass.
