Dave Barrow

D.H. "Dave" Barrow, age 82 of Joplin, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center and now resides next to his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dave was born May 4, 1932 in Rochester, Kentucky to the late Hular M. and Sally Mae Meredith Barrow. While living in Kentucky, he was a rifleman and a coal miner. Dave had many trades but was most proud of being a master machinist. While in California, Dave worked on projects such as the Queen Mary and was proud that some of his "handy work" was visible on the moon when Neil Armstrong was stepping down the ladder. He was a shop foreman for several machine shops in both California and Missouri. His favorite job however was working as Santa Clause at North Park Mall where every child received a "God bless you" and "Santa loves you".

On March 20, 1954 Dave married the absolute love of his life, Evelyn Margaret Caswell in California. She preceded him in death on March 15, 1999.

Survivors include two sons, David Eugene Barrow of Joplin, Lonnie "Steven" Barrow and wife Robin of Claremore, OK; daughters, Barbara Smith of Joplin, Sally Jeanette Zimmerman and husband Kevin of Broken Arrow, OK; five grandchildren, Theresa Walthall and husband Travis, Wesley Smith, Candace Jo Zimmerman, Adam G. Barrow, Evianna Barrow; great-grandkids, Grace and Grant Walthall; sister, Edna Myrl Allen of Drakesboro, KY; many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by three sisters, Anna Brown, Wilda Mann, Geraldine Williams and one brother, Hular Barrow Jr.

Services are planned for Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Parker Mortuary. Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 PM at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, family request memorial contributions to the "Mission's Fund" of Seneca Full Gospel Church in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
