Lynn Slavens

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Lynn Slavens, 66, Diamond, passed from this life on Sept. 21, 2014, with his family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lynn was born Nov. 9, 1947 in Neosho, MO, the son of Huck and Norma Jean Slavens. He graduated from Diamond High School in 1966 and was a lifelong area resident. He owned and operated L & S Trucking. He enjoyed spending time on the farm with his horses and family and was an accomplished horseman, a trait he passed along to his grandchildren.

Lynn married his best friend and the love of his life, Marlyn Burris on July 31, 1980 in Miami, OK and they brought eight children into this union. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Marlyn; a daughter, Jody Argo, Republic; two sons, Shane Slavens, Neosho and Robert Slavens, Springfield; three step sons, Wayne Hobbs, Neosho, James Hobbs, Diamond and Mitchell Hobbs, Neosho; twenty one grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents. Lynn loved his church and was a member of the Diamond Christian Church. His faith was strong as ours should be, so one day we may walk the fields of heaven with him.
