Karen Lynne Yount, age 78 of Joplin, Missouri passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at her residence surrounded by family after a brief battle with breast cancer.
Karen was born May 16, 1936 to the late Frank and Helen Hurlbutt Flaherty DeLaughder in Eureka, California. She has been a long time resident of Joplin after moving from California. Karen worked in sales for many retails shops throughout Joplin and most recently worked at the Webb City Wal-Mart.
She is survived by sons, David W. Yount and his wife Janice of Joplin, Mark S. Yount and wife Tracy A. of Joplin, daughters, Wendy L. Yount and friend, Jerry Hentz of Joplin, Cheryl A. Yount of Joplin; brother, Stanley DeLaughder and wife Ruby of Redding, California; sister, Jeanette Carey of Eureka, California; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; special sister in-law, Jeanne Whitaker of Moab, Utah.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Michael Flaherty, Arthur DeLaughder and one grandson, Jonathan Yount.
Private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
