Mary Ann Rhoads died Thursday, September 18, 2014, at the age of 87. She was the third of four children born in Pierce City, Mo. and her parents, brother and two sisters predeceased her. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Glenn “Tom” Rhoads of the home and five children: Diane Baker of Kansas City, Mo; Michael Rhoads (Kathryn) of Tulsa, Ok; Mark Rhoads of Jefferson City, Mo; James Rhoads (Sherry) of Grove, Ok; Dr. Jack Rhoads (Mary K.) of Joplin, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann received her undergraduate degree and Masters’ degrees in education from PSU in Pittsburgh, Ks. and taught elementary school and remedial reading in the Joplin school district for seventeen years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Joplin since 1965.
Funeral Mass was held on Monday, September 22, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Justin Monaghan officiating. Burial followed at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
