Dorothy Luella Etcheson, age 88, of Alba, Missouri departed from this life on the evening of September 23, 2014.
Dorothy entered this life on December 23, 1925 in Barton County, Missouri to Edgar and Lena Beasley. She was one of three children. Dorothy was raised in the Barton County area and graduated from Mindenmines High School. Dorothy wed Sammy Etcheson on March 3, 1956 in Lamar, Missouri. Dorothy and Sam had two daughters and one son. Dorothy not only took care of the home and family, but also worked side by side with her husband in his church ministry by teaching Sunday School, singing, and playing the piano. She was also very active with her husband Sam, in the Jasper VFW Post 6415 and ladies auxiliary. Dorothy served as president of the ladies auxiliary for the past thirteen years. She was a member of the Zion Baptist Church in rural Jasper, Missouri.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Beasley, her mother, Lena Beasley, brother Clarence Beasley, sister Myrtle Hanes, and her son, Wyatt Etcheson. She is survived by her husband, Sammy Etcheson. Two daughters, Connie Wise and Teresa Etcheson Hembree. Nine grandchildren, David Wise, Sean Wise, Marisa Wise, Lacy Harris Wise, Jennifer Etcheson, Jaime Spurling, Julia Ingram, Timothy Welsh and Samuel Etcheson. Twelve great-grandchildren, Riley Spurling, Ragan Spurling, Jordan Ingram, Greyson Wafford, Remmington Spurling, Rhett Wise, Jayden Ingram, Kellan Harris, Harper Wise, and Ardyn Harris.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper MO.. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 26, 2014 at Weng Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Waters Cemetery northwest of Jasper. Memorial contributions can be made to the Gideons International.
