Ola Lucille Roberson Helton age 96, passed away following a long illness on September 25, 2014, just one month before her 97th birthday, at National Health Care Nursing Home in Joplin, Missouri.
For more than half her life, Ola was resident of Joplin, Missouri and Grove, Oklahoma areas, although she was born in Laceys Springs, Alabama October 25, 1917. Her early years were lived in Huntsville, Alabama and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Her husband, Ennis Lee Roberson, the love of her life, preceded Ola in death. Her parents Addie Mae Mcelhaney Whisenant and Joe Wheeler Whisenant, three brothers, Harrison, Whisenant, Earl Whisenant and Herman Whisenant and a sister Beulah Roberson also preceded in death. Ola’s daughter, Gail Roberson-Fatino and her husband Carman, three grandsons, Frankie Goepfert and his wife, Joy, and their son, Ries; Daniel Goepfert and his wife, Marian and their children, Billy and Gabby; and Delbert Ray Geopfert, and his wife, Kendra, and their children, Gregory and Amelia Gail, and several beloved nieces and nephews. Ola was known as a seamstress, competition hand-quilter, and an accomplished cook.
She worked for several years as office manager at GRCC Counseling agency. Most of all, Ola prided herself on being a lovely mother and on her compassion for animals, especially her little dog.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Monday September 29, 2014 at the Mt Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO.
