Elsie "Mae" Knapp age 102 of Guest Home Estates, Pittsburg, KS. formerly of Mindenmines, MO. passed away September 29, 2014.
She was born March 17, 1912 in Ravenden, Arkansas to Arthur and Edith (Castor) Force. She graduated from Jasper High school in 1930 and received her teaching certificate from the former Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg, Ks.. Mae taught in several one room schools in Kansas and Missouri and retired from Carl Junction R-1 schools in 1972. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Pittsburg, KS..
Mae was united in marriage to Albert (Bert) Knapp on April 24, 1936. He precede her in death on December 27, 1997. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Force and a sister, Anna Force Southern. Mae is survived by a brother, Arthur Force of Lamar, MO.. two nephews, Lloyd (Karen) Southern of Carl Junction, MO. and Robert (Connie) Southern of Raytown, MO.. Three nieces, Carolyn Depue of Fairland, OK., Clara Faye Jackson of Carl Junction, MO. and Gail (Owen) Taylor of Manchester, MO.. Many great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her wonderful church family and many great friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Nashville, MO. Cemetery with Reverend Rod Scherencal officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Southern Care Hospice, Pittsburg, KS. or the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Pittsburg, KS..
