Joy Haflich

Joy A. Haflich, age 78, formerly of Joplin, passed away on Thursday September 18, 2014, at her home in Van Buren, Arkansas., following an illness. 

Joy was born on June 11, 1936 in Casper, Wy., the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha (Althouse) Allen. She graduated from Webb City High School in 1954. She worked for the Childress Royalty Company as an accountant, retiring in the mid 90’s. She then worked for Macy’s Department Store. She won many sales awards and she truly loved working there. She attended Oronogo Methodist Church. She enjoyed collecting antiques.

 Joy married Lowell Haflich in August 1971 in Miami, Ok. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2013. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Rex Allen. She is survived by two sons, Ron Newby and wife Sammye, Van Buren, Ar., and Chris Newby and wife Shelly, Joplin; a step-son, Lawrence L. Haflich and wife Estella, Joplin; a step-daughter, Julie Shelton, Inman, Sc.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Johnny Wilkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard prior to the service. 

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
