Ruby Hinds

Ruby F. Hinds, age 85, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Spring River Christian Village after an extended illness. 

Ruby was born September 11, 1928 in Griffin, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles and Hattie Kern. She graduated from Griffin High School and then received her Bachelor Degree from Johnson Bible College in Kimberling City, Tennessee. While working at a church in Webster City, Iowa, she met and then married Maurice Hinds on January 6, 1952. She was a Minister’s wife and homemaker, but she also spent a lot of her time teaching. She taught various Sunday School classes, Youth Groups of different ages, and Women’s Groups. She liked to sing and led numerous church choirs. She liked to garden, grow flowers, and watch birds. Her family was very important to her, and she liked to spend time with them. She was a member of the College Heights Christian Church.

Ruby is survived by one son, Marshall Hinds, Webb City, Mo., three daughters, Holly Milliken and husband Paul, Novelty, Mo., Lorna Lang and husband Jerry, Grinnell, Iowa, and Gina Hinds, Ozark, Mo., nine grandchildren, Mindi Ross (Adam), Shawna Miller (Jason), Kara Milliken, Ryan Milliken, Jared Lang (Ivana), Susanna McCoy (Daniel), Martha Schafer (Kyle), Joseph Lang (Jessica), and Annie Hutton (Isaac), nine great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice, and infant daughter, six sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Mason-Woodard Chapel with Rick Bushnell and Paul Milliken, Ministers, officiating. Burial will follow at the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Ryan Milliken, Jared Lang, Denton Mead, Kyle Schafer, Daniel McCoy, and Kevin Wheeler. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions are requested to Good News Productions Intl. in care of the Mortuary.

 Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary of Joplin, Mo.
