The family of Jeanne Fanning announces her passing on Thursday, November 26, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, MO. We will celebrate her love of family, friends, and life.
Jeanne was born on May 25, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Royle Howard Hansford and Martha Muriel (Hall) Hansford. She was a graduate of Joplin High School, Class of 1947 and attended Jasper County Junior College for two years. On June 19, 1949, she married Dick Fanning in Carthage, MO. Jeanne owned and operated a Hallmark store in Ennis, TX and also helped her husband run the family cattle business. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, was active in the Dogwood Garden Club, and the McCune Brooks Hospital Auxiliary.
Jeanne is survived by her daughter Susan Skaggs and husband, Steve and their family, Sam, Meg, Sadie, Robinson, and Henry Skaggs; daughter, Sara Fanning and her family, Megan, Jimmy, Jenevieve, and Violet Adams and Taylor Grimes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Fanning, and brother, Bill Hansford.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 4, 2015 in the Grace Episcopal Church, 820 Howard Street, Carthage, MO. Inurnment will follow at the Oak Crest Abbey in Park Cemetery, Carthage, MO. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Grace Episcopal Church.
