Loretta “Letter” Irene Sawyer, 72, of Aurora, MO departed this life suddenly on Sunday, November 29, 2015, at Mercy Hospital, Aurora, MO.
Loretta entered this life on December 23, 1942, in Lawrence County, MO to the union of the late Charlie and Vineta (Overall) Boggs. She was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. She owned and operated her own restaurant “Loretta’s Place” for many years in Monett, MO. Prior to owning her own business she worked for other restaurants in Monett and Springfield, MO. She later retired from the Hungry House CafĂ© in Sarcoxie, MO. On January 10, 1961 she was united in marriage to Ora “Buddy” Sawyer, he preceded her in death on December 16, 1974. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, cruises and spending time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Marion Boggs, Melvin Boggs and Walter Boggs; one sister, Sheryl Boggs; and one nephew, Bruce Thorn, she also loved as a son.
Loretta is survived by two brothers, Gerald Boggs and wife Barbara of Wentworth, and Mitchell Boggs and wife Cora of LaRussell; four sisters, Charlena Boswell of Aurora, Anna Maggard of LaRussell, Shirley Garrison and husband Kenneth of Sarcoxie and Lorene Thorn of Carthage; several nephews and nieces, also a niece, Jennifer Smith she loved as a daughter; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Loretta are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, Sarcoxie, MO with Mitchell Boggs, Jr. officiating. Burial to follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Steve Boggs, Keith Maggard, Lance Boggs, Bobby Culver, Tom Garrison and Dale Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Boogs and Kelby Endicott.
