Hank Valcourt

Henry V.L. “Hank” Valcourt, age 83, of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday morning, May 5, 2019, after a short illness.

He was born May 23, 1935, in Woodsocket, Rhode Island, the son of Valmore Z. and Anne Marie (Bell) Valcourt.

Hank was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force in the permanent grade of Staff Sergeant and Communications Center Supervisor. During his 10 years of service, he was assigned stateside, and overseas in Japan during the Korean War, and in Morocco. Hank was a member of the American Legion Post 1000.

He earned a Business Administration Degree in Information Systems from Lowell Tech (UMass/Lowell) and retired from Boise Cascade Corporation in Rumford, Maine. Hank was an Information Systems Designer, Implementer and Project Leader.

He had been a resident of Missouri since 1996, relocating from the State of Maine after having previously lived mostly in New England other than during military assignments. Hank attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church.

He married Mary E. Whaley on June 30, 1956, in Nashua, New Hampshire. They raised one daughter, Christine Marie Beckley, who resides in Kansas.








He is also survived by two nieces, Andrea Liston of Warwick, Rhode Island, and Michelle McGwin of Portland, Maine.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gabrielle R.M. Martin.

Per his wishes, Hank was taken for cremation and no formal services are planned at this time. A private burial of ashes will take place in Kansas.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
