Thomas Joseph “Tom” Austin, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and avid sportsman departed this life on May 3, 2019 in his home. Tom fought a courageous two-year battle with esophageal cancer.
Tom was born on February 28, 1953, in Granby, MO the son of George Joseph and Nellie Gertrude (Herron) Austin. He graduated from Neosho High School in 1971. Following graduation he went to work in the oil fields in Oklahoma. Returning to Neosho he was a concrete finisher working for 4State Asphalt, R.E. Smith, and Branco Enterprises over the years.

Tom is survived by his wife Lora B. Austin; sons Michael Lambert (Dana) Parma, OH, and James J. Austin (Courtney) Diamond, MO: daughter Amanda M. Austin of Neosho; two grandchildren Chase and Katie O’Neill; sister Christine Ann Austin Logan of Palo Alto, CA; brother-in-law Steven H. Mills, and three nieces and one nephew. Preceding him in death were his parents and sister Lynda Sue Austin Mills.
In August 31, 1990 he married Lora Lambert in Miami, OK. They returned to Neosho to raise their children on the 1895 Missouri Century Farm: Austin’s Dripping Springs Farm.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm, May 19, 2019 at the family farm
