Bill Sprawls

William "Bill" Jefferson Sprawls II, age 92, of Lamar, Missouri passed away May 05, 2019, at his home

Bill was born September 30, 1926 in Bienville, LA to William Jefferson Sprawls I and Bertha (Jennings). Bill left high school at the age of 17 and joined the U.S. Navy to serve his country during World War II. After the war ended, he returned to school and graduated from Beinville High School. In October 1952, Bill married Betty Jo Brice in Arcadia, LA.

Bill worked as a farmer and rancher, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association since its formation, and a member of Lamar First Baptist Church. In 2005 he won the Barton County SWCD Grassland Management Award, for his land stewardship.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Betty Sprawls; a son William Jefferson "Jeff" Sprawls III, and his wife Marta of Carthage, MO; two daughters, Jane Anne McComas, Lamar, MO and Linda Schilling and her husband Errly of Lockwood, MO; eight grandchildren, Brice Schilling, Lane Bucane, Forrest Terry, Stephanie Martinez, Tim Kivett, katie Kivett, Aleisa Tiegs, Kerenza Collins; and nine great grandchildren.








Preceding in death were his parents, a brother, William D. Whitley, a sister, Johnie McDowell, and a son-in-law Bill McComas.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Daniel Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lockwood Cemetery.

There will not be a formal visitation, but friends my pay their respects starting at 12:00 noon on Wednesday  at the funeral home.
