Bernice Goodlett

Bernice Ileen Goodlett, age 84, Neosho, passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Mercy of Joplin.

Ileen was born February 6, 1935 in Rich Hill, Missouri, daughter of the late Elmer M. Wyer and Gladys Irene Cochran Wyer. She graduated from Rich Hill High School, got married, and moved to Topeka, Kansas where she had three children. She was left to raise her children on her own, and she worked for years as a transcriptionist.

She moved to back to Rich Hill working for the Hospital in Nevada, then Butler, Missouri, and finally moved to Joplin in 1985 where she continued her work for the local hospitals. She was very devoted to taking care of her family, and loved music, both playing the piano and singing. She was a very gifted pianist, playing by ear several styles of music. Her family remembers her fondness for baking, especially her breads. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren.








In addition to her parents, Ileen was preceded in death by two sisters, Elsie Mae and Wanda.

Survivors include her children, Cynthia King and husband James of Topeka, Kansas, Debra Brown and husband Doug of Neosho, Missouri, and Patrick Goodlett of Topeka, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah Williams and husband Colby, Aaron Henry, Caleb Henry, Rafferty Brown, Christopher Goodlett, Kevin Goodlett; great-grandchildren, Henry Williams, Madison Henry, and Aiden Henry; her brother, Sidney Wyer of Wasilla, Alaska.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until Noon. Ileen's remains will be buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Rich Hill, Missouri by her family.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
