Curtis Parrish

(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)

Curtis Austin Parrish, 42, of Carl Junction, Missouri, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 7, 2019.

He was born July 30, 1977, in Joplin, Missouri, to the union of Dennis and Janet (Brothers) Parrish. Curtis was a graduate of Carl Junction High School, where he participated in FFA. Following high school, Curtis began his 23-year career with AT&T, where he worked as a service technician/lineman. He enjoyed anything and everything outdoors – hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, farming – and he also found a talent in woodworking. Curtis was a member of the 3 State Family Boat Club and active in youth archery, FFA and 4-H.

His upbringing taught him the important things in life – work hard, take care of your family, and always help those in need – and Curtis did just that. He gave selflessly, worked tirelessly, loved fiercely and enjoyed the simple things. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend and he will be missed deeply by all who knew him.

On October 24, 2015, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jennifer Blubaugh, and she survives. He is also survived by his son, Dalton; his parents, Dennis and Janet Parrish; his brother, Chris Parrish (Anissa); his maternal grandmother, Lucy Brothers; his in-laws, V.J. and Susan Blubaugh; and many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dr. Larry Brothers; and his paternal grandparents, Harry and Annabelle Parrish.

Funeral services for Curtis will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2019, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri, with David Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Carterville Cemetery. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Matt Winder, Mike Honey, Colby Mitchell, Brian Massey, Doug Hudson, Eric Dodson, Brandon Parrish and Brandon Purcell. His son, Dalton, and his AT&T Brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to benefit Carl Junction FFA, Jasper County 4-H or the Carl Junction Educational Foundation in support of their Archery program.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
