Gary W. Steinkamp, age 68, Joplin, passed away on October 23, 2019, at his home, surrounded by family.
Gary was born on October 10, 1951 in Carthage, MO, the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Steinkamp and Maggie Neoma (Thorn) Steinkamp. He has been a lifetime area resident. He drove for Granby Propane, he then worked as an auto mechanic for C&C Ford and 15th Street Auto. He finished his career delivering auto parts for R&S Chevrolet, Joplin Ford, and Napa. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church.
He married Sharon Correll on June 20, 1970 in Columbus, KS, and she survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, James Steinkamp and wife Linda, Diamond, MO, and Roy Steinkamp Bonham, TX; two sisters, Jean Starkey and husband Fred, Lufkin, TX, and Lou Smith and husband Robert, Hemet, CA; a sister-in-law, Carol Mayfield, Welch, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Kay Adams.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend John Swadley will officiate. Burial will be in Jasper Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Lida Reed, Rik Reed, Judy Salerno, Larry Salerno, Kevin Mayfield, Tim Mayfield, and Travis Mayfield.
The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. Saturday prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Forest Park Baptist Church in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
