Doris June (Allen) Ballard of Erie, Kansas passed away Sunday Oct. 27th 2019 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK.
She was born on July 16th, 1934 in Locust Grove, Arkansas to Dewey and Thelma (Massey) Allen. She had 8 siblings Vernice Savage, Ava Brightwell, Louise York, Nell Allen, Dene Allen, Tommy Allen, Dickey Allen, and Judy Lewis.
After graduation from Desha High School in Desha, Arkansas, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked at the Hallmark Company. While living in Kansas City she met and married Jerald C. Ballard on Nov. 2, 1953. They traveled and lived in several states until settling down in Arcadia, Kansas to raise their family. They later moved to Erie, Kansas.
Doris is survived by six children; Jeralyn Ballard of Lawrence, KS., Dea Autrey of Erie, KS., Mike Ballard (Dana) of Joplin, MO., Steve Ballard (Gayle) of Erie, KS., Patti Ballard of Frontenac, KS., and John Ballard (Natalie) of Pittsburg, KS. Nine grandchildren – Adrian Dorris and family, Jenny Newell and family, Jeff Matlock and family, Michelle Waggoner and family, J.D. Ballard and family, Lindsay Ballard, Stevi Ballard and family, Andi Ballard and family, and Bailey Ballard; and nine great grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Allen; a sister, Judy Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six siblings.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, visiting, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, and watching sports.
Private family services will be held Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the First Christian Church in Erie followed by burial in the Old Arcadia Cemetery at Arcadia, Kansas.
Flowers may be sent to the First Christian Church, 703 W State Street, Erie.
Memorials are suggested to “The Lord’s Diner” in Pittsburg, Kansas and these may be left at the
