Patty Cicero

(From Parker Mortuary)

Patty Joyce McMullen Cicero, age 83, Joplin, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at her home with family at her side.

Pat was born March 5, 1936 in Fairfield, Iowa, daughter of the late Edgar Simmers and Cornelia Gertrude Harris Simmers.

She moved to this area in the 1950's, and was married to Gaylen McMullen for 20 years, and the couple had two children, Karen and Dale. She was widowed in 1971, and in August of 1975 she married Marvin L. Cicero, and in doing so took on four more children, Craig, John, Teresa, and Robbie.

She worked for some time in the Jewelry Department at Wal-Mart before deciding her time should be spent at home taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was an active member of Wildwood Baptist Church since 1965, where she and Marvin have enjoyed watching the church grow with the membership numbers, and the addition to the building. She sang in the church choir, and helped teach in Sunday School. Pat and Marvin also ran a food pantry for the church for over 7 years. She will be missed by her family, friends, and church family, but we can all rest in the fact that we know she is now singing in Heaven's Choir.

In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her first husband, Gaylen McMullen, who passed December 21, 1971; sisters, Donna Millard and Bertie; and a great-granddaughter, Riley Feagan.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, , Marvin L. Cicero; daughter, Karen L. Eddis and fiance Ron Clark of Joplin; son, Dale Wayne McMullen and wife Kim of Carl Junction; step-children, Craig Cicero and wife Kelly, John Cicero and wife Diann, Robbie Cicero all of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Teresa Young and husband Randy of Highland, California; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Gretchen; and several nieces and nephews; and daughter-in-laws, Dee Cicero and Polly Cicero.

Memorial service will be Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church with Pastor Lew Poe officiating.

The family will receive friends at Wildwood Baptist Church on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wildwood Baptist Church Building Fund.
