Maurine Lanz

(From Daniel Funeral Home)

Maurine Lee Lanz went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 6, 2019 just six days shy of her 89th birthday.

She attended rural school and graduated from Columbus High School in 1948. Not only did Maurine help with the raising of her younger brothers and sisters, she also lived with a family to help with taking care of laundry and other household chores.

After high school, she moved to Carthage, MO where she became a legal secretary. After moving to Joplin, she continued her career as a legal secretary for the late Emerson Foulk and Al Shortridge. She retired in 1980 after 30 years in this field.

On November 5, 1954 Maurine was united in marriage to Calvin Lanz at Blendville Christian Church in Joplin, MO. It was at this church where Maurine accepted Jesus into her heart. They would continue going to this church until they move to the family farm in 1975. Countryside Christian Church, Pittsburg, KS would soon become their new church home where she was still a member. Calvin proceeded her in death on February 24, 2002.

Once retired, Maurine became a full-time farmer's wife, mom and GG to her grandkids and great grandkids. She enjoyed the farm life and for many years put out a garden from which she would can food for her family. She continued living on the family farm until December of 2018 when a fall would cause her to have to go to assisted living. She loved to go fishing, especially with her neighbor and friend Hazel Kibler. She was also an accomplished bowler and bowled on a league in Joplin for many years.

Maurine was one who would never complain no matter what life dealt her. She touched the spirit of everyone she came in contact with, and she will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
