Carl Cross

Carl D. Cross 63, of Carthage, MO died 10:40pm Sunday October 20, 2019 at the Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO following an illness.

Carl was born February 8, 1956 in Gainesville, MO the son of Gary John and Marjorie Ann (Essex) Cross. Carl was a graduate of West Plains High School in West Plains, MO in 1974 and later attended Crowder College. He was a veteran of the United States Army for 19 years, serving his country in Operation Desert Shield earning the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Carl has been a resident of Carthage since 2003.

On March 25, 2005 Carl married Janet L. Neal in Arkansas; she survives at the home.








Carl worked for Lozier Metal Fabrication in Joplin, MO serving as Floor Supervisor for 17 years. Carl was of the Christian Faith; he enjoyed drawing, painting, hunting, golfing, flying his ultralight plane and most of all his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife; mother; son Joshua Cross and wife Amy of Independence, MO; sister Tracy Asher and husband Thomas of Pomona, MO; brother Gary John Cross II and wife Nancy of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Morgan Cross, Isabelle Cross, Jackson Cross and Skylar Cross and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his father and sister Winter Dawn Riley.

Celebration of Life will be 6:00pm Friday October 25, 2019 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Duane Elmore officiating. Burial will be at a private date. Friends may call after 2:00pm Friday.

In lieu of flowers the family asks expressions of sympathy to be in the form of memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S. Broadway Pittsburg, KS 66762.
