Helen Jean (Gardner) Marti, 91, Lamar, Missouri, passed away at Barton County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, October 13, 2019 after a short illness.
Jean was born on June 18, 1928, in Arcola, Missouri to Thomas William and Katherine Irene (Twaddell) Gardner. She had spent her lifetime in Barton County and was proud to have been a farmer’s wife for many years. Jean had also worked at McDonald’s in Lamar, Lamar Apco, the Lamar Super Market, Jewell Medlin Ford, and Tractors. She graduated from Lamar High School in 1948.
Jean and Edward Melvin Marti were married on November 20, 1950, in Bentonville, AR. Ed passed away on January 13, 1995.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Kinney, of Lamar, Vicky Masterson, of Lamar, and Shirley Reinemann and husband Terry, of Lowell, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Chad Kinney and wife Mendy, Kori O’Sullivan and husband Brian, Chris Kinney, Kara Graves and husband Joe, Craig Reinemann and wife Amber, and Jase Masterson and wife Macenzie; six great-grandchildren, Cody and Chelsey O’Sulllivan, Kiersten and Keaton Kinney, Luke Masterson, Adeline Reinemann, and Baby Graves expected in 2020; two sisters, Kay Marti, of Lamar, and Opal Young, of Lamar; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Forrest Wayne Gardner.
Jean was a member of the First Christian Church of Lamar.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday October 16, 2019 from 1pm to 2pm followed by a 2pm service at Konantz Warden Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lake Cemetery, Lamar, MO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Barton County Senior Center.
