Maxine Conrad

Maxine Jo (Ray) Conrad, 77, of Pittsburg, passed away at 1:11 a.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the home of her son, Edgar M. Conrad IV.

She was born August 2, 1942 at Pittsburg, the daughter of Dives Joe and Josephine (Thomas) Ray. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s and Colgan.

On October 14, 1961, she was united in marriage to Edgar Marion “Conny” Conrad III at Pittsburg. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1989. She later married Larry E. Emerson on October 2, 1993. He preceded her in death on June 12 1994.

Mrs. Conrad worked for USD #250 and was also the owner/operator of the Boardwalk Supper Club. She retired in 2008.








Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. In 1991, she founded the St. Paul’s Group at Our Lady of Lourdes for Widows and Widowers. She was also a member of the Altar Society and volunteered at St. Mary’s Bargain Corner, as a Pink Lady at Mt. Carmel Medical Center, volunteered at the Lord’s Diner and every Friday at 3:20 p.m. she had a standing Choir practice meeting.

Survivors include, three sons, Edgar Marion Conrad IV and his wife, Cheri of Joplin, Missouri, Timothy Ray Conrad and his wife, Robin of Kansas City, Kansas, and Todd Alan Conrad and his wife, Cara of Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Donna Gorman and her husband, Jerry of Pittsburg; eight grandchildren, Beth Perez (Jesus) of Joplin, Capt. Edgar M. Conrad V (Anna) of Ft. Leonard Wood, Jessica Franklin (Kevin) of Girard, Caitlyn DeLange (Derrick) of Girard, Titus Conrad of Kansas City, Kansas, Morgan Kolenda (Jake) of Kansas City, KS, Keaton Conrad of Olathe and Addison Conrad of Olathe; and 7 great-grandchildren, Ava, Sophia, Michael, and Josephine Perez, Derx, Duke and Cartyr DeLange.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Michael Ray.

A parish rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Jerome Spexarth as celebrant. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow with Father Phillip J. Voegeli as celebrant. The family will receive friends and guests following the mass. The family suggests memorials be given to Angels Among Us. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
