William Herbert Anthony, age 75, Webb City, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital.
Bill was born January 28, 1944 in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late George Anthony and Dorothy Barnes Anthony. His family relocated several times while growing up, and he graduated from Spokane High School, Spokane, Washington. He then earned his bachelor's degree in Geology from Long Beach St. University. He served in the United States Coast Guard for 24 years, retiring with a rank of MSTCM. He then worked in the civilian sector for Unisys in Joplin for many years as a manager of the old Vickers Plant for ground water clean up.
Bill was a faithful member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where he was at one time the Sunday School Director. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Dot, his church family from Fellowship, and especially his pets.
In addition to his parents, George and Jean Anthony, his biological mother, Dorothy Barnes, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Ron Anthony.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Smith Anthony, whom he married September 7, 1971; two brothers, Dick Anthony and wife Kay of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Jerry Anthony and wife Ruth of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Rex Wakefield officiating. Inurnment of his remains will take place at Ozark Memorial Park Niche with full Military Honors.
