Bob Collett

Mr. Robert Dean “Bob” Collett, 79, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday, November 7, 2020, while at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

Bob entered this life on March 2, 1941, in Nubieber, California, the only child born to the union of the late Edwin Dean and ¬Genevieve Brown McConnell Collett. He was raised in Dunsmuir and Soda Creek, California. He moved to Joplin, Missouri, in 1966. 

Bob retired from the city of Joplin Public Works Department with twenty-seven years of service. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his yard, visiting with his friends and neighbors and was proud of his 49 Dodge Pickup and his 68 Ford Mustang. Bob attended worship services at Fairview Christian Church in Carthage and Church of God Seventh Day in Joplin.








Bob is survived by his wife, Helen R. Collett of the home; a stepson, David Blanton of Neosho; four stepdaughters, Kathleen Swinehart of Jasper, Barbara Jefferson of Webb City, Teresa Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma and Sandra Showen of Miami, Oklahoma; eleven step-grandchildren; ten step-great grandchildren; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin with Pastor Tony Allmoslecher officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Robert Peppers, Ron Swinehart, Ryan Swinehart, Daniel Jefferson, Danny Showen and Ryan McNeely. The family will receive friends on Thursday at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
