(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Dorothy Irene (Ford) Andrews, age 61 of Galena, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 7, 2020.
Dorothy was born in Joplin, MO on September 14, 1959 to the union of Howard James Ford and Deloris Easter (Roberts) Ford. She graduated from Parkwood High School with the Class of 1977, and later earned her LPN certification from Franklin Technology Center.
She worked as an LPN for Oak Hill Hospital in Joplin, and remained employed through the merger with Freeman Health System. She had been a lifetime resident of the four-state area. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren and taking care of others.
Dorothy was united in marriage with Paul Aaron Andrews on November 12, 1982 at Tennessee Prairie Church of rural Galena. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2017.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Deloris Ford; an infant son, Kaleb Andrews; one sister, Betty Ford; and one brother, Ron Ford.
Survivors include one son, Jordan Andrews of Galena; three daughters, Sarah Capp (husband, Matt) of Joplin, Melissa Abbott (husband, Justin) of Galena, and Vanessa Baird (husband, Jacob) of Baxter Springs, KS; three brothers, Jim Ford of Northwest Arkansas, Bob Ford (wife, Brenda) of Pensacola, FL, and John Ford (wife, Pam) of Salem, MO; one sister-in-law, Judy Ford; grandchildren, Trinity, Kadin, Logan, Gage, and Isabella; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Andrews has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. A memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, November 16, 2020 at Lowell Cemetery. Mary McWethy will officiate. The service will be live-streamed, and those who choose to attend are encouraged to stay in their vehicles in respect to COVID-19 precautions.
