Janice Pinter

Janice Elaine Pinter entered this world November 24, 1934, the daughter of Cecil Carl and Ellawee Hall (nee Harrison). She passed away October 31, 2020.

Janice attended Eugene Field Grade School and Carthage High School where she was always popular and an honor student.

During her youth she worked at the Brinkman’s Brothers Greenhouse and Tiger theater. Late she was a waitress at Red’s and the C & W cafes the most frequented restaurants in Carthage at the time. 

For number of years, following the birth of her first child Bill, she was employed by the Broadview Country Club. Janice had many interesting life experiences not the least of which was her singing ability. 

As a teenager radio station KMDO began operations and she along with a friend sang on a Saturday morning radio program for a while. They gave “Candy Kisses” a whole new sound from that Eddy Arnold who had it at the top of the popular music charts of the late 1940’s. However, Janice’s greatest singing appearances were in the kitchen after each meal doing the dishes and harmonizing with her sister, Delores.

Among her many talents was cooking and her homemade hot rolls were known to have “floated in air.” The family was known for great cooks, but none could match her when it came to making rolls.

Most of Janice’s adult life was spent away from Carthage. She lived in Texas and California before returning to Missouri and taking up residence in Kansas City. After her husband, John Pinter retied from the Kansas City Police Department they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks where they enjoyed new friends in the retirement area. 

After her husband passed away, she moved to Carthage to be near her son and other family members. She spent the last decade and a half in residential living and nursing homes.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two daughters; Jacquelin “Wendy” Fulton and Jody Saxon-Rodriquez. 

Ironically Jody passed away October 1, 2019 and one year a day later Janice was diagnosed with Covid which was a contributing factor in her passing.

Also surviving Janice is her son William (Barbara) Scheerer along with a sister Delores Kennell also of Carthage; her youngest sister Ola Marie (David) Thomas of Springfield, Missouri, and a brother John (Noel) Hall of Columbia, Missouri. Also surviving are numerous grand and great grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held form 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at the Knell Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to the American Cancer Society in care of the Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
