(From Parker Mortuary)Monty Elton Sumners, 83, of Webb City, passed away November 10, 2020.
Monty was born September 19, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas, one of ten children born to the union of the late Rolen and Mary (Triplett) Sumners. He worked for Eagle Picher for a number of years before starting his career with Fleming Foods, were he was a member of Teamsters # 823, and then retiring in 1994.
On June 5, 1958, Monty was united in marriage to Lynda Jackson and together they had three children.
Monty loved all animals and also loved to fish. He enjoyed model trains, monster truck races, and working on hot rods with his buddies. His favorite movies involved John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, and James Bond. Monty was a simple man and truly enjoyed the simplest things in life. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Monty was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda; one son, Darryl; and eight siblings.
Survivors include two children, Lonnie Sumners of Joplin and Diana Sumners (Tami Hood) of Carthage; four grandchildren, Shalimar Hoagland, Travis Sumners (Patricia Miller), John Sumners (Annie), and Gina Haddock; three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jay, and Eevee; his brother, Donald Sumners (Peggy), of Hughes Springs, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sheila Haddock; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Parker Mortuary with David Welch officiating. Burial of ashes will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Golden Paws.
For those attending services, masks are required and social distancing will be implemented.
